Ghostly waterhole 2 (Waltzing Matilda 7A)

Oil on canvas 100cm x 100cm

‘….and his voice may be heard as you pass by the billabong….’

One of a series of paintings based on the ballad Waltzing Matilda. Written near Winton, Western Queensland where Graham spent his formative years. More than a ballad, essentially an allegory about injustice…about courage…when do you put your life on the line. responding and finding the courage to oppose. While brushes were used, much of this series was done using bare hands.
