‘The Leap’ is an outcrop on the edge of the Great Dividing Range just north of Mackay, north Queensland. The common name of the outcrop arose from tragic circumstances. In the early settlement days an Indigenous woman and her baby (it’s uncertain, but perhaps part of a small group) were forced to leap from the outcrop to their deaths while being pursued by settlers.  This was a memory painting.
